They are capable of operating in temperatures ranging from cryogenic to approximately 2000ºF (1093ºC) and can handle pressures from vacuum to 2500 pressure class flange ratings.

Additionally, spiral wound gaskets can be customized with variable densities, from low density for vacuum service to high density gaskets with a seating stress of approximately 30,000 psi (207 MPa). The softer gaskets require a seating stress of around 5,000 psi (34 MPa), providing flexibility for different sealing needs.
